Every year, we’d celebrate Mother’s Day with both our mothers. When it is just the 4 (the happy Lins) of us, it would just be a simple meal outdoors or a day that I do not have to cook. Reason being, I think that Mother’s Day is overrated. It just seems like a good time of the year for restaurants and retail shops to up-sell their products. This year however, G surprised me with a staycation at Dusit Thani Laguna. I couldn’t contain my excitement because I have been eyeing this hotel for the longest time. Ever since I first came across pictures of their restaurant, I knew I had to go there someday. Wanting to surprise the kids as well, I was careful not to let my excitement show until we arrive at the hotel.
Founded and with headquarters in Thailand, you will find touches of Thailand in this luxurious hotel. Worth mentioning is definitely the friendliness of the hotel staff. Dusit Thani Laguna Hotel is within the grounds on of Laguna National Golf Resort Club, which is a short drive away from Changi Airport. We could actually see the planes taking off and landing from the hotel’s pool and restaurant. The boys were amazed, especially Ian, our little aviation fan. He’d point and shout out the colours he could see on the planes.
We booked the Deluxe Laguna Patio room, which is on level 1. It is also right behind the swimming pools, so we had direct access to the pools. The children squealed with joy. Isaac went, “Wow! I love this place” and Ian said “We are on a holiday! A happy, happy holiday!”. They could not wait to open the door to the patio. Despite the slight drizzle, the kids insisted on checking out the swimming pools. I uploaded a short video of our stay on our Instagram (@iixplorers), which can be found in the highlights. The only thing that Ian questioned was, “Hey, where is the bathtub?” Sometimes I can’t believe he is only 2 years old.
There are 3 pools in this hotel – the lap pool, relaxation pool and kid’s pool. I like how the pools are surrounded by palm trees and we even got a good view of the planes’ bellies when they were landing or taking off.
In the evening, we had dinner at Legends Bar. It is actually one of the rare occasions that we dined in at a hotel, and I am glad we did. The staffs on duty were extremely kind towards us. They came by to check on us from time to time, and one of them even gave the kids some strawberries. Since this hotel gives us the Thai vibes, I had to order the Pad Thai. The children had burgers, fries, and spaghetti. I enjoyed the Pad Thai for sure. We sat there and chilled until it was time for Ian to go to sleep.
The next morning, we had breakfast at the Greenhouse. I am finally at the place where I’ve been seeing on my social media feeds! This forest themed restaurant is 100% love at first sight for me. The food is not bad too. The natural lighting at this restaurant is too good not to capture photos, but we were running out of time since there was a specific time slot allocated for guests to have their meals.
Although it was a brief stay, we had a fabulous time. I am thankful for this surprise and am even more thankful to be given an opportunity to be a mother to 2 wonderful children. What made me really happy this Mother’s Day is the appreciation I received from G. I am really happy that the 4 of us enjoyed this staycation so much. Best Mother’s Day ever. ❤
